Alex and Salisha’s Pre Wedding Session at Deer Lake

The day started just a block apart.
Alex was at his family home, getting into his traditional Indian wedding attire for the very first time. His father and brother helped with the final touches. It didn’t take long, but we still got some beautiful moments. You could see the excitement on his face. He couldn’t wait for the first look at Deer Lake.

The Bride Getting Ready
Over at Salisha’s family home, the energy was building. Her lehenga was breathtaking. Vibrant colors, intricate embroidery, and jewelry from head to toe. Every piece felt like her.
Her best friend and maid of honor, Shalini, flew in from England to help with hair and makeup. Even though we were running a little behind, the anticipation made every moment feel even more special.

First Look at the Lake
Alex waited at the dock, looking out over Deer Lake. The second Salisha appeared, you could see it. Pure joy. It was his first time seeing her in full Indian bridal wear and his smile said everything.

We wandered the park, taking portraits along the dock, under the trees, and by the water. There are so many great spots here. Not just the dock, but the winding paths, the tall trees, the benches, and even a small garden nearby.

Family in Traditional Attire
Once portraits were done, both families joined in for group photos. This was the first time they were all together in their traditional outfits and the colors looked incredible against the lake’s greenery.

Why Deer Lake is Worth It
If you are thinking about where to do your pre wedding photos in Burnaby, Deer Lake is one of the best spots. You have peaceful trails, a scenic dock, and stunning lake views. In summer it can get warm here, but the photos are worth it. Especially at sunset when the light hits the water.

Tip for couples
The best parking is at Shadbolt Centre Parking. It is only about a 7 minute walk to the dock and saves you from walking all the way around the park.
Looking Ahead
After our time at the lake, everyone headed home to get ready for the Mendi ceremony. It was the perfect start to their wedding celebrations. Filled with culture, beauty, and family love.
