Privacy Policy

Kind Photos YVR is a wedding and portrait photography studio based in Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information I collect through kindphotosyvr.com and when you book with me, why I collect it, and how I keep it safe.

I follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA). In plain terms: I only collect what I need, I tell you why, and I never sell your information.

What I collect

I collect information you choose to share with me, plus some basic information about how people use my website.

When you contact me: your name, email, phone number, event date, venue, and anything else you write in my contact form or send by email or Instagram message.

When you book: details needed to plan your session or wedding, such as your partner's name, your timeline, locations, and billing information for invoices and payments.

During your session or wedding: the photographs I take of you, your family, and your guests.

When you visit my website: general information like the pages you view, how you scroll and click, your device and browser type, and your approximate location. See "Website tools and cookies" below.

Website tools and cookies

Cookies are small files your browser saves so a website can remember things. I use a few tools that rely on them to understand how my site is used and to make it better. I do not use advertising trackers.

Microsoft Clarity: shows me how visitors move through my site, using heatmaps and session recordings of clicks and scrolls. Clarity does not record what you type into forms. Microsoft collects this data under its own privacy statement.

Burst Statistics: a simple visitor counter on my blog that shows which pages are popular. This data stays on my own website.

Pinterest: the "Pin it" buttons on my photos load a small script from Pinterest, which may collect information under Pinterest's own privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies anytime in your browser settings. My site will still work if you do.

How I use and share it

I use your information to reply to your inquiry, plan and photograph your session or wedding, send invoices and contracts, deliver your photos, and improve my website. I never sell or rent your information.

I share it only with trusted services that help me run the business:

HoneyBook: client records, contracts, and payments.
Pic-Time: online photo gallery delivery.
Wave: invoicing and bookkeeping.
Google (Gmail and Drive): email and file storage.
Showit and WordPress: hosting my website and blog.
Microsoft Clarity: website usage insights.

Some of these services store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws. I may also share information if the law requires it.

Your photos, storage, and security

How I may share your photos in my portfolio, blog, or social media is set out in your photography contract. If you'd prefer your photos stay private, just let me know and I'll respect that.

I keep your information only as long as I need it to deliver your photos, meet my tax and accounting obligations, and keep a record of our work together. I protect it with password-protected accounts and reputable service providers, and only I can access it.

Your choices and how to reach me

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, unless I need to keep it for legal or tax reasons. You can also withdraw your consent to how I use it at any time.

For any privacy question or request, email me at [email protected]. I'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC.

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
