Weddings are always an emotional event, but Van and Minh's day in Vancouver felt extra special. The day started at their home, where Minh&rsquo;s parents, visiting from Vietnam, joined the excitement of the upcoming celebration. You could just feel the anticipation in the air as friends and family gathered to see Van and Minh officially tie the knot.

Minh&rsquo;s sister Melody was incredibly kind and welcoming, showing how close-knit and loving their family is. Of course, their cats, Dior and Louie, added their own charm to the day. We managed to capture some adorable family photos with Minh, his family, and the cats (though Van wasn't around for those &ndash; funny enough, she was missed even by the cats!). The getting-ready moments were filled with joy, with Minh&rsquo;s parents helping him into his suit for the big day.

After spending some time with Minh and his family, I headed to Mayfair Richmond Golf Course, where Van was getting ready. The bridal party looked absolutely adorable in their matching robes, and we managed to capture some fun shots outside in the beautiful light. Van&rsquo;s excitement was contagious &ndash; her entire bridal party was full of energy and ready for the festivities.

After those cute "getting ready" moments, Van changed into her wedding dress. The time had come for one of my favorite parts of any wedding &ndash; the first look.

The first look took place in a secluded area on the golf course, with Minh waiting anxiously. I left him there alone to really let the emotions build while I went to get Van. This moment is always one of the highlights of the day for me &ndash; it&rsquo;s such a beautiful, intimate scene. Van looked absolutely breathtaking as she walked up to Minh. The excitement and love between them were undeniable.

Once Minh turned to see Van, the look on his face said it all. The moment was filled with such genuine emotion &ndash; it was an honor to capture their reactions to seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day. Afterward, we took advantage of the moment to get some photos of the couple, allowing them to share this time together before the ceremony. Doing the first look is such a great idea for couples because it not only provides beautiful emotional photos but also frees up time later for family and party portraits.

They joked that it would be too "cheesy" to say their vows in Vietnamese &ndash; I loved hearing that! After the ceremony, we gathered for more formal family shots before heading into the golden hour for portraits.

From the flowers to the decor, every little detail was so thoughtful and perfectly executed. Not to mention, Van was pregnant and they were also moving at the same time &ndash; talk about a power couple!

The reception was as moving as the ceremony, filled with heartfelt speeches from the maid of honor and best man. The emotions were running high, and it was clear that everyone there had such deep affection for Van and Minh. As the night went on, there were some fun moments with games, the cake cutting, and of course, the first dance. The kids enjoyed the bouquet toss, and the DJ kept the energy going with great music that had everyone on their feet dancing.

Shooting a wedding at the HMCS Discovery Naval Reserve was a first for me. What an incredible experience it was! Tucked away on a private navy base in downtown Vancouver around Stanley Park, this venue offers something truly unique for those looking for a secluded spot with stunning waterfront views, only for people who have served in the Canadian Navy. It&rsquo;s one of those places I&rsquo;d only wonder what was in there from afar while walking around Stanley Park, so getting a chance to explore the inside was an honor.

As I pulled up to the gate as Jacquie and Max were outside the gate of the naval base, both of them were holding a bunch of wedding essentials, including a TV, waiting for the gate to open. We piled into the car and crossed the bridge into HMCS Discovery. It was my first time seeing the inside of this private location, and it didn&rsquo;t disappoint. There&rsquo;s something so charming about capturing a couple&rsquo;s special day in such a unique and beautiful venue with a diverse landscape of scenery from beaches to views of downtown Vancouver.

As 2:00 PM approached, excitement started building for the ceremony. The anticipation was building up as Jacquie made her way to the grassy lawn, where the ceremony would be held against the stunning backdrop of downtown Vancouver's skyline. Max was excited to see his bride-to-be as Jacquie approached with her father walking to the front of the ceremony. The ceremony itself was held right by the water. It couldn't have been any more beautiful, just as beautiful as Max's vows, which were incredibly emotional. Everyone was touched by the words they shared for each other. These two poured their hearts out, and I couldn&rsquo;t help but feel lucky to be there documenting it all.

After the ceremony, we transitioned into family photos and bride-and-groom portraits. This part of the day was a blast. Jacquie and Max&rsquo;s bridal party was super energetic and helpful, which always makes the photo sessions even more fun. They really knew how to bring out the laughter and lighthearted moments, which made for some incredible shots. Whether it was group photos or couple portraits, HMCS Discovery offered so many diverse locations that it felt like every shot was in a different world.

After the portrait session, we headed over to the reception. From heartfelt speeches to energetic dancing, Jacquie and Max&rsquo;s families and friends brought so much warmth to the evening. As a couple, Jacquie and Max have such fun quirks that really shine through. They were both huge anime and gaming fans, which totally resonated with me. Let&rsquo;s talk about music! The playlist had some throwbacks that reminded me of my own childhood in the &lsquo;90s, making the reception even more memorable. It was crazy to hear the Sailor Moon song and a Pok&eacute;mon song! There were some serious in-depth conversations about anime. Their friends shared the same passions, which was incredible to see people so passionately speaking about things they love.

We capped off the evening with some breathtaking sunset photos by the private beach at HMCS Discovery. The sun dipped behind the mountains and Vancouver skyline, and the lighting was perfect for those golden hour shots. We even ended the night with sparklers, which always adds such a magical touch to the final moments of the day.

A Vancouver Wedding at HMCS Discovery Naval Reserve: Jacquie & Max’s Big Day

The day started at Manuel's family home, where we had some time before Kyna arrived. We took advantage of this by capturing a few formal group shots with Manuel's close family. The anticipation built as we waited for Kyna, who was about to surprise Manuel with the first look in the family home.

The first look was a special moment. Manuel hadn&rsquo;t seen Kyna in her dress before, and his reaction said it all. It was a genuine, emotional moment that set the tone for the day.

We began with a tea ceremony to honor their parents, a tradition that held a lot of meaning. It was a chance for Kyna and Manuel to show their appreciation for all their parents have done for them&mdash;a quiet, heartfelt moment in the midst of the day&rsquo;s excitement.

After the tea ceremony, we headed to the Cleveland Dam for the wedding ceremony. We arrived ahead of schedule, which gave us extra time for more family photos and some bride and groom portraits. The Cleveland Dam, with its stunning scenery, offered endless options for great shots, and arriving early meant we could make the most of it before the ceremony began.

Kyna and Manuel&rsquo;s connection was clear throughout the day, and their families&rsquo; warmth made everything feel even more special. One of the best things about a pre-wedding shoot is that it feels rushed. We could take our time, chat and enjoy the experience, which really comes through in the photos.

Our next stop was the downtown Vancouver Public Library. This location is a personal favorite, the architecture is just incredible. We even ventured up to the rooftop, where the views of the city are breathtaking. Although taking photos inside can be a bit tricky, with a little stealth (and covering the bride with the groom&rsquo;s jacket!), we managed to capture some incredible moments.

Finally, we wrapped up the shoot at some of Vancouver&rsquo;s historic sites, like the art gallery and the courthouse. These unexpected stops added even more variety to the shoot, showcasing the beauty of Vancouver in a way that was personal and meaningful to Carman and Charles.

Vancouver Wedding Photoshoot: Urban Elegance with Carman & Charles’ Stunning Downtown

Have you ever wondered why pre-wedding and post-wedding photoshoots are a must? They give you a chance to create truly magical images that just aren't possible on the busy wedding day itself. On a typical wedding day, you might get 30 minutes to an hour at with most for bride and groom portraits. Sure, you&rsquo;ll get some beautiful shots, but nothing like what I captured for Carman and Charles at Deep Cove.

This session was special because we had time to explore, to relax, and to really capture the dreamy, light-heated, and romantic vibe photos for Carman and Charles. We started early, just after sunrise when their was mist still creating this ethereal atmosphere. The light was simply breathtaking, with soft, golden rays peeking through the mist, setting the perfect stage for these two.

We wandered from the pier to a quiet spot by the lake, surrounded by flowers and trees. Every corner of Deep Cove seemed to offer a new and stunning backdrop. I even brought along my trusty bubble gun for some added fun, which always adds a bit of magic to the shoot.

After wrapping up at the pier, we moved to a nearby forest area. Carman and Charles were just the sweetest, kind-hearted and full of love, which made my job so much more enjoyable. Their connection shines through in every photo, and it's shoots like these that remind me why I love what I do.

Ever wondered what it&rsquo;s like to Photograph a summer wedding in the heart of Chilliwack? Noele and Jeremy&rsquo;s wedding was a beautiful, relaxed celebration on a hot July day and it was an honor to photograph from start to finish.

We began the day at a hotel in Abbotsford, where both Noele and Jeremy got ready with their bridal parties. There were plenty of laughter and&nbsp; hilarious moments with Jeremy and the boys. Jeremy has been a long-time coworker of mine, I was incredibly grateful that I got to document this special moment for him. Noele and her bridesmaids were all incredibly sweet, and you could just feel the love and care they had for each other.

The first look took place at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, a location that offered stunning views of a lake.&nbsp; I could see the motion in Noele's eyes as she walked up behind Jeremy and gave him a hug. Tears flowed and it was a beautiful moment to capture&nbsp; and witness. We took some quick group shots with the bridal party and some just bride and groom portraiture before heading to the Yarrow Community Centre, the venue they had booked for the wedding.

They had spent the day before setting up, and the venue looked incredible, with a charming baby blue color theme that matched Jeremy&rsquo;s tux. The ceremony took place in the shade, keeping everyone cool and comfortable, which was a blessing on such a hot day, definitely a luxury of having a wedding at The Yarrow Community Centre.
