A day filled with love, light, and all the little moments that matter

The Morning at Home
The day started at their home in Vancouver. Minh’s parents had just arrived from Vietnam, and you could feel the excitement in the air. His sister Melody was incredibly kind and welcoming. Their cats, Dior and Louie, wandered around like they knew something big was happening. We snapped a few family photos with Minh and his parents, but you could tell someone was missing. Van hadn’t arrived yet, and even the cats seemed to notice.

Getting Ready at the Golf Course
Over at Mayfair, Van and her bridal party were in matching robes, catching the soft morning light outside. There was a mix of laughter and calm energy. Once she stepped into her dress, the whole mood shifted. Everything felt real.

First Look on the Fairway
We found a quiet corner of the golf course where Minh waited alone. Van walked up behind him, and when he turned around, he just froze. It was one of those moments where time kind of slows down. We stayed there for a bit to take some portraits before the rush of the day picked back up.

Ceremony on the Island
Mayfair has this outdoor spot they call The Island. It’s surrounded by water and framed by the mountains, and it really does feel like a little escape. That’s where Van and Minh said their vows. They chose to speak in English, joking that saying them in Vietnamese would feel too cheesy. It made the moment even more true to who they are.

Golden Hour Glow
After the ceremony and a round of family photos, we caught the sunset right on time. The light was soft, the air was calm, and the backdrop could not have been better. It’s wild to think they planned this wedding in just three months. Van was also pregnant and they were in the middle of moving. Total legends.

A Heartfelt Reception
They celebrated in the Greenside Room, which has floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the course and mountains. Hardwood floors, chandeliers, and a private patio gave it just the right mix of cozy and elegant. The speeches were heartfelt and funny. One of my favorite parts was watching Van and Minh visit every single table to thank their guests in person. That really stuck with me.

Why Mayfair Works So Well
If you’re thinking about this venue, there’s a lot to love. The Island is peaceful and surrounded by nature. For receptions, you can go big with the Greenside Room or keep it intimate in the Lakeside Room, which has wood ceilings, a stone fireplace, and views in every direction. It’s one of those spots that gives you options without ever feeling overdone.

Looking Back
This day felt warm from beginning to end. Van and Minh were thoughtful, present, and full of love. Being there meant a lot to me.
