Outdoor Vancouver Wedding at a Salish Ceremony Site and Pacific Spirit Regional Park
Miriam and Rob Got Married Surrounded by Forest and Love
I’m still thinking about this one. Miriam and Rob held their wedding at a Salish-designated nature space here in Vancouver. It was the kind of setting that makes you slow down and breathe. Just trees, soft light, and people who truly care about each other. It fit them perfectly. They love nature. They love each other. And they built a day around that.
The whole ceremony felt easy and warm. The kind of moment that reminds you what it’s all about. Everyone there showed up with full hearts. Being able to document it meant the world to me. Thank you, Miriam and Rob, for trusting me.
Portraits in Pacific Spirit Regional Park
After the ceremony, we made our way into Pacific Spirit. If you’ve been there, you know. The trees are massive. The air is still. The light, especially in the late afternoon, is magic. We found spots where the sun filtered through just right. Miriam and Rob slipped right into the moment. Honest, natural portraits. No forcing anything.
Sunset at Home
Their reception was at home. Backyard, golden light, people piled onto couches and steps with food and stories. You could feel the emotion in every word shared. We caught the last bit of sun as it dipped low. I love those quiet, golden minutes. The ones that feel like the exhale after a big day.
Planning a Summer Wedding Outdoors in Vancouver
If you’re thinking of doing something similar—here’s what I’d share after this experience:
Consider a Salish-Designated Nature Space
These sites are more than just pretty. They hold cultural weight and are protected natural environments. They also come with very reasonable rates. One local example offers 4-hour site use for under $100 plus GST, with a special event fee around $250.
Timing is Everything
Plan your ceremony late afternoon when the sun is soft. This makes portraits easier and way more flattering. Trust the light. Vancouver’s long summer evenings give you plenty of room to breathe.
Keep Guests Comfortable
Outdoor weddings are beautiful but they come with their quirks. Remind guests to dress for the setting. Light layers, comfy shoes, maybe even a blanket. Bug spray and sunscreen go a long way. A little table with water, lemonade, or snacks? Total win.
Don’t Overdo the Decor
Let the trees and sky do the heavy lifting. A few flowers. Some personal touches. That’s really all you need. The more natural it feels, the better it looks in photos.
Have a Rain Plan
This is Vancouver. Even in July, a surprise shower isn’t off the table. Think about tent rentals or scout out a secondary location. Matching umbrellas can be practical and photogenic.
Home Receptions Hit Different
Hosting your reception at home? Do it. The comfort level is unmatched. You’re not watching the clock. You’re just with your people. Plus, the photos have that lived-in, storybook feel.
