Vancouver Fall Wedding Photography at Hycroft Manor

A quiet fall afternoon. Just the two of them.

Some sessions feel special from the moment they start. This one did.

Ariel and Sion showed up looking incredible. She wore a soft, beautiful gown with a floral design, a cathedral veil, and a cherry blossom hairpin. He wore a perfectly fitted black suit. They looked like a perfect match. Their laughter and energy brought so much life to the shoot.

This was a pre-wedding session at Hycroft Manor in early October. The leaves were turning, the sun was low, and the entire building had this quiet, glowing energy. Every space felt like it was straight out of a movie. It’s one of those places that feels like you’re somewhere far away in Europe, even though it’s right here in Vancouver.

Here’s how the day unfolded.

We Started in the Green Solarium

The first thing you notice in this room is the stained-glass ceiling. The way the light filters through in the fall is unreal. Soft green tiles cover the walls, and the tiled floor reflects just enough light to give everything a gentle glow.

It’s not a big room, but it doesn’t need to be. One of the most unique spots in the entire manor.

We started here first because the sun sets earlier in the fall. We wanted to make sure there was enough light indoors before heading outside. We captured some beautiful portraits of the two of them together, followed by solo shots of Ariel. Then we moved to the Drawing Room.

Then We Moved into the Drawing Room

The Drawing Room has a timeless, classic feel. Cream-colored walls. A chandelier overhead. Tall glass doors that let in soft, natural light.

This room perfectly matched their elegant style. His tailored suit and her gown looked incredible here. The chandelier, the grand piano, and the paintings on the walls gave everything an elegant, romantic feel.

It’s one of those rooms that instantly elevates the mood of the shoot. If you’re planning to photograph here, this is a must. It’s timeless, classy, and full of character.

The Main Hall and Staircase

After that, we stepped into the main hall, where the staircase curves on both sides and leads to the upper level of the manor. It’s even more impressive in person.

The large window behind the staircase fills the space with soft, flattering light. Whether you’re standing at the top or sitting halfway down, it creates photos that feel classic and grand.

The Terrace

Later in the day, we went out onto the Terrace. The columns are tall and elegant. Green vines climb up the walls, and the city peeks out in the background. It feels like you’re somewhere far away, even though you’re still in Vancouver.

We brought out champagne glasses for a little toast. The light was dipping low, getting warmer by the minute. We caught a silhouette shot in the reflection of the terrace door that felt like it belonged in a movie.

We Finished in the Rose Garden

The Rose Garden is where many couples hold their ceremonies at Hycroft. But in the fall, it becomes one of the most beautiful portrait spots.

There’s a big maple tree that turns a deep gold in October. The lawn is always clean and perfectly kept.

By this point, the light was soft and low. Ariel and Sion walked slowly through the garden together. The last bit of sunlight hit just right.

This is why I love photographing here in the fall. You don’t need to do much. The setting is already so beautiful and thoughtfully maintained that every photo feels effortless.

Why Hycroft Manor Works So Well for Pre-Wedding and Wedding Photos

Every room here feels different. The Solarium is bright and warm. The Drawing Room is soft and classic. The main hall feels grand without being over the top. Then you step outside and get open air, garden space, and golden light all in one place.

If you want variety without having to drive all over Vancouver, this venue is perfect. It gives you timeless, cinematic backdrops all in one location.

You also don’t need to overthink your outfits or props here. The space does most of the work. You just show up, be present with each other, and I’ll guide the rest.

Tips If You’re Planning a Fall Pre-Wedding Session at Hycroft

  • Golden hour on the Terrace is beautiful just before sunset
  • Peak fall colors usually appear between late September and mid-October
  • Keep styling natural and simple so it complements the space
  • Plan time to explore at least three or four areas without rushing
