I have been lucky enough to photograph Hoang and Rose from their very first engagement session all the way to their wedding, maternity shoot, and now this sweet family session with baby Lincoln. Watching their story unfold is one of the best parts of my job.
We met at Garry Point Park in Steveston right at sunrise, smack in the middle of peak cherry blossom season. That early window gave us soft golden light and a calm park before the crowds showed up. The forecast called for rain, but the sky held off just long enough to capture everything we needed.
Seeing a family grow is always special, and spending time with Lincoln was pure joy. Moments like these remind me why I love preserving milestones that only happen once.
Tips for a cherry blossom session at Garry Point Park
- Check the bloom tracker
Peak bloom usually lands in late March to April. A quick check online will tell you exactly when the trees hit their prime. - Arrive at sunrise
Morning light is soft and warm, and you will have the park almost to yourself. - Head to the far end
The quieter corners offer cleaner backgrounds and fewer distractions. - Use a telephoto lens or portrait mode
Compress the scene and blur out anything you do not want in the frame. - Get low
Shooting from a lower angle fills your photo with blossoms and creates an immersive feel. - Plan for parking
Lots fill up fast during peak bloom. If you are coming later in the day, park a little farther out and enjoy a short walk in.
From engagements to weddings to growing families, I feel incredibly grateful every time I get to document love and life in full bloom. If a cherry blossom session is on your wish list, let’s make it happen. I would love to help you capture your next milestone.
