Quarry Rock engagement photos with Alex and Rob
Hidden in North Vancouver is one of my favourite places. Deep Cove is calm, quiet, and feels like something out of a movie. The light on the water, the mountains in the background—it just has this kind of magic to it.
Alex and Rob picked Deep Cove for their engagement session because it means something to them. They love exploring together and didn’t want their photos to feel like a typical photo shoot. They wanted it to feel like an adventure. And that’s exactly how it turned out.

We Started Early
If you’ve ever been to Deep Cove, you know how packed it can get. We met before sunrise, when everything was still and peaceful. That quiet early morning made the whole thing feel more personal, like the cove was just for them.

The Hike to Quarry Rock
The trail is only about 2 kilometers but it’s all uphill through forest and roots. Nothing too hard, but definitely a little workout. We kept it simple, just water, a snack, and their outfits in a backpack. They hiked up in something comfy and changed at the top. Way better than climbing in dress shoes or fancy clothes.

Views That Make You Pause
The top of Quarry Rock gives you one of the best views on the North Shore. You can see Belcarra, Deep Cove below, and even Mount Baker if it’s clear. We took our time. Let it breathe. They changed into their photo look and everything just clicked. The light, the view, the way they looked at each other. It all came together.

A Session That Felt Like Them
Alex and Rob were laughing the whole way up. They took breaks to soak in the view and share stories. It wasn’t stiff or posed. Just real moments between the two of them. That’s what I’m always aiming for. Something that feels honest and true to who you are.

Bonus Spots Around the Cove
After the hike, we wandered along the shoreline near Panorama Park. The post-hike calm really showed in those photos. Just the two of them, catching their breath, holding hands by the water. Some of my favourite frames from the whole session came from that part.
If you’re doing your shoot here, do yourself a favour and stop by Honey Doughnuts & Goodies after. Grab a honey-glazed doughnut. You earned it. We definitely did.

Thinking of Doing Your Engagement Photos at Deep Cove?
Honestly, it’s one of the most beautiful spots around Vancouver. You’ve got the sea right there, an easy hike up to Quarry Rock, and views that are pretty unreal. The photos you can create here—trust me, they’re incredible.
The only real challenge is parking. Deep Cove fills up fast, especially if you show up later in the day. If you want photos like Alex and Rob’s, you have to get there early. Sunrise or before is the sweet spot. It’s quiet, the lighting is perfect, and you’ll basically have the place to yourselves.
If you’re dreaming of photos that feel natural and true to you, Deep Cove might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Planning Your Own Deep Cove Engagement Session?
Here’s what I recommend:
- Get there early. Before 7 AM is best. You’ll beat the crowds and catch soft, beautiful light.
- Pack a second outfit. Hike in something breathable and change at the top.
- Bring snacks and water. Helps keep your energy up.
- Scout beyond Quarry Rock. Just past it, you’ll find quieter spots with similar views.
- Check the trail status online. Rain can make it slippery or cause closures.
- Be bear-aware. Not common, but still worth knowing. Make a bit of noise and keep food packed up.
- Support the locals. Grab a coffee or doughnut after. Makes the day feel complete.
