Alex and Rob’s Engagement in Seoul
How it all happened, My wife and I had a trip planned to Japan and Korea. Total coincidence, but Alex and Rob were traveling at the same time. We were supposed to shoot in Kyoto during cherry blossom season. But the blooms came early. We missed them. So we pivoted. Flew to Seoul. Honestly, it turned out even better.

Bukchon Hanok Village in the morning
We met up early. The streets were quiet. The light was soft. Bukchon felt still. Peaceful. We didn’t over-plan anything. Just walked through the alleys and let it unfold.

Best time to go
Early morning or late afternoon. The light is gentle and the crowds are thinner.
What to wear
Neutral outfits look great here. Hanbok works beautifully too. Keep it simple and let the setting shine.
How to get there
Take Line 3 to Anguk Station. The walk up is worth it.
And just a heads-up—this is a real neighborhood. People live here. Be kind.

Gyeongbokgung Palace in hanbok
Later, Alex and Rob changed into hanbok. The palace gave us a completely different backdrop. Alex was born in Korea and speaks Korean, so being there felt personal in a way you can’t really script. It wasn’t just a shoot. It meant something.

Renting hanbok
There are rental shops right outside the palace. Most of them offer hair styling too. If you wear hanbok, you get into the palace for free.

Why Seoul worked
We missed the cherry blossoms, but somehow this felt like it was meant to happen. Seoul gave us history. Beautiful structure wonderful people and amazing food.

Why destination sessions matter
When you’re in a new place, the energy changes. You slow down. You notice more.
You come home with photos that feel like they’re only yours. Not just pretty pictures, but a memory you lived.
It doesn’t have to be halfway across the world either. Even a short drive to a place you’ve never been can shift everything.
Alex and Rob, thank you for trusting me with this one. It was special.
