Cleveland Dam Engagement Photos in North Vancouver
This place is wild. In a good way. You’ve got mountain views, a quiet lake, open fields, and dense forest all in one spot. And you don’t have to hike for it.
April and John picked Cleveland Dam for their session. It was my first time shooting there, and honestly, it blew me away. They’re also getting married there, so this was kind of a warm-up. A pretty great one.
Why It Works
It’s easy to get to but still feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere. That mix is rare. You park, walk a few minutes, and you’re surrounded by trees and views.
The Vibe
You’ve got options. Grassy areas, forest trails, moody light, the dam’s concrete lines, and views that feel way bigger than the city. You don’t need to fake anything here. Just show up.
Light’s Best Early
Early morning is where it’s at. Soft light, no people, and space to breathe. You’ll get better photos and probably a better experience.
Bring What Feels Right
Dog? Blanket? Whatever’s part of your story, bring it. It makes the session feel like yours, not someone else’s shoot.
What Made April and John’s Session So Good
They didn’t try to pose or overthink it. They hung out, laughed, and let me do my thing. That’s where the good stuff happens.
A Few Tips
Wear stuff that fits the setting. Nothing loud. Keep it simple.
Shoes that can handle some mud are smart, especially if it rained.
Walk the area first if you can. Helps you feel more relaxed day-of.
Final Word
Cleveland Dam is solid. Easy to get to. Big payoff. If you’re into nature but don’t want to hike deep for it, this place delivers.
