FOUR ESSENTIAL TIPS FOR SELECTING

THE RIGHT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

01. Define Your Preferred Photography and Editing Styles

Decide on the photography style that resonates with you—candid (photojournalism), traditional, editorial, or a blend like posed journalism. Consider the editing style as well, such as bold and dramatic, true to life, or light and airy, to ensure your photos align with your desired aesthetic.

02. Research and Evaluate Photographers

Explore photographers' portfolios and social media for consistency and quality. Read client reviews to gauge professionalism and satisfaction. Request full wedding galleries to assess their ability to capture the entire event consistently, handling various lighting situations and key moments.

03. Meet and Connect with Potential Photographers

Schedule consultations to build a personal connection. Ensure their personality aligns with yours and that you feel comfortable. Discuss your values and priorities so they understand what's most important to you, allowing for authentic and candid moments.

04. Consider Experience and Discuss Logistics

Evaluate their experience in handling the unpredictability of weddings. Discuss packages, coverage hours, second shooters, delivery timelines, and additional costs. An experienced photographer can assist with timeline management, reduce stress, and enhance your overall wedding experience.

REASONS TO CAPTURE GETTING READY PHOTOS FOR YOUR WEDDING

1. Capture Emotional Moments with Loved Ones

The hours before your ceremony are filled with heartfelt interactions and genuine emotions. From your mother helping you into your dress to your bridesmaids sharing laughs, these intimate moments with your closest family and friends are priceless memories you'll cherish forever.

2. Take a Moment to Slow Down and Savor the Day

Weddings can be hectic, but the getting ready phase offers a peaceful pause. This time allows you to breathe, reflect, and truly appreciate the significance of your special day. Beautiful photos from these moments help you remember the calm and anticipation before the celebration begins.

3. Showcase the Beautiful Details

Every detail of your wedding—from your intricate dress lace to your handcrafted invitations—tells part of your unique story. Getting ready photos highlight these special elements, ensuring that all the little things you've carefully chosen are beautifully documented.

4. Set the Tone for Your Wedding Album

Getting ready photos serve as the opening chapter of your wedding story. They weave together emotions, details, and personal interactions, creating a comprehensive narrative that enhances your entire wedding album. These images provide a heartfelt prelude to the main events, making your photo collection even more meaningful.

FIRST LOOK

WONDERING IF A FIRST LOOK IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Seeing your other half for the first time on your wedding day is a special moment. Whether it’s a first look or an epic reveal as you walk down the aisle, it’s a moment worth remembering.

If you’re debating a first look, here are a few things to consider.👇

Blog

01. A QUIET MOMENT ALONE

Wedding days fly by. A first look gives you a moment alone (with me capturing from a distance) to soak it all in and feel the emotions of the day in an intimate setting.

02. MORE TIME FOR PHOTOS & YOUR RECEPTION

With a first look, we can take pictures of you two, the bridal party, and some family photos before the ceremony. This makes the day less rushed and lets us take more pictures! Once you're married, you can get to your cocktail hour and reception sooner.

03. POSSIBLY AVOID BAD WEATHER

If bad weather is on the forecast, a first look lets you get pictures done earlier and avoid being stuck in the rain. Plus, we can choose the perfect spot for the first look, ensuring great photos no matter the weather.

04. GET OUT ALL YOUR TEARS WITHOUT THE AUDIENCE

A first look gives you both a chance to cry without an audience. You can get all your tears out and have time to freshen up before pictures too.

FAMILY PORTRAITS

A FEW HELPFUL TIPS + TRICKS

01. CROWD MANAGEMENT

Assign a Helper: It's great if you can assign a friend or family member to help make sure we have everyone we need for family photos. This person should know everyone on the photo list but not be in too many photos themselves.

02. KEEP YOUR FAMILY IN THE LOOP

Communication is Key: It makes the whole process faster when everyone knows what to expect. Let your family members (or anyone else in the photos) know to stick around as soon as the ceremony ends so we don't have to spend extra time finding everyone who's walked away.

03. SHORT & SWEET

Quick and Efficient: Family photos aren't anyone's favorite part of the wedding day, so we try to take them as efficiently as possible. Keep in mind that every grouping typically takes 2-3 minutes to pose. We want to get all the family photos done without cutting into your cocktail hour or reception too much!

04.CREATE A LIST

Organize Ahead: We'll ask you for a list of family picture groupings a few weeks before your wedding. Please make sure you list everyone's first name so we know who to call for when grouping people together for a photo. (There's a template below that's super easy to customize!)

RECEPTION & GRAND EXIT

RECEPTION

Capturing the Moments: During your reception, I'll be taking photos of the speeches, dancing, and candid shots of your guests. I'm always available to grab a photo of you with a group of guests who might not have been in the planned group photos. I love being your personal paparazzi!

GRAND EXIT

Epic Send-Offs: Grand exits are such a fun way to bookend your day! They usually consist of a human tunnel with sparklers, bubbles, glow sticks, or something else to celebrate with. It’s helpful to designate a few people to organize everyone into two lines and distribute whatever they’ll be holding.

Double the Fun: If you're up for it, I like to have couples run through the tunnel twice to make sure we get that EPIC send-off photo!
