Mount Pleasant Vancouver | Aman & Seamus' Winter Maternity Announcement

February 2nd, 2025

Aman was one of my very first clients, and I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with her over the years. She’s one of the kindest, most caring people I’ve photographed, and her husband, Seamus, is equally as funny and lovable. So when they asked me to document their pregnancy announcement, it was a huge honor.

We planned a cozy, intimate maternity session at Dude Chilling Park in Mount Pleasant—right in the heart of Vancouver. It’s a spot that holds meaning for them, and after the shoot, they warmed up with hot chocolate and cookies at Level V Bakery, which happens to be right near my wife Monica’s bakery. The session was during Vancouver’s cold snap, just after New Year's, and the fresh snowfall created a truly magical winter wonderland for their announcement.

A Snowy & Heartfelt Pregnancy Announcement

Despite the cold, Aman and Seamus fully embraced the winter setting, bringing their own creative ideas to the shoot. One of the cutest moments? They swapped hats—one reading “Mr.” and “Mrs.” to new ones that said “Mom” and “Dad.” It was such a small but meaningful way to capture this new chapter in their lives.

Another personal touch they included was their ultrasound photo, which made for an emotional and heartfelt detail in the photos. And since this wasn’t just a photo session, but a way to share their big news, we also captured a short video announcement—which turned out incredibly adorable!

How to Make the Most of a Quick Maternity Shoot

This maternity session was wrapped up in under 30 minutes, proving that even in the cold, you can get stunning results if you plan ahead! Here are some quick tips for making your own maternity shoot stress-free and successful:

1. Keep It Short & Sweet

When it’s freezing outside, you don’t need an hour-long session. Instead, go in with a plan, capture key moments quickly, and focus on quality over quantity.

2. Dress for the Weather

Layer up! Thick sweaters, stylish coats, and accessories like hats and gloves not only keep you warm but also add character to your photos. Bonus tip: neutral or pastel tones pop beautifully against snowy backdrops.

3. Bring Meaningful Props

Props like an ultrasound photo, baby shoes, or even a letter board announcing your due date can make your photos feel even more personal and special.

4. Incorporate Video

If you’re planning to announce your pregnancy publicly, a short video clip can be a fun and emotional way to share the news with friends and family. Even just a few candid clips spliced together can make for a beautiful, shareable moment.

5. Lean on Your Partner for Support

Pregnancy shoots are even more special when both parents are involved. Seamus was a huge help in making Aman feel comfortable, and his presence in the photos made the session even more meaningful.
